Powering the Next Generation of Globally-Connected Spatial Storytelling

Share:

EarthMuseum Learn is built on our proprietary, next‑generation, web‑native system for spatial storytelling: HerO (short for Heritage Origin).

To bring HerO to life, we partnered with KnowNow Information, a Portsmouth‑based information technology company renowned for digital innovation, data‑driven applications, and user‑centred platform design.

Working closely with our team, KnowNow translated our vision into a robust, scalable system—grounded in extensive user research and shaped by real‑world development across education and heritage environments.

At its core, HerO uses Cesium’s 3D globe engine, enabling users to move seamlessly from a global view down into rich, immersive, multimedia story worlds. The result is a cohesive, spatially aware experience that goes far beyond traditional digital resources—stories are not just told, they are situated.

EarthMuseum Learn showcases HerO’s transformative impact in the classroom, but the platform is designed to scale far beyond education. HerO is ready to power experiences across:

  • Museums and galleries
  • Heritage and tourism destinations
  • Commercial brands with global narratives
  • Independent digital storytellers

HerO is built as an adaptive, accessible platform—part archive, part engine for interactive storytelling. By combining rich heritage data with a scalable cloud architecture, we’ve created a foundation ready for AI-driven classification, NLP, and fully immersive experiences. The real breakthrough is what this unlocks: organisations can finally activate the true value of their archives through digitisation, enabling spatially connected, context-aware ways to learn, research, and create.
